Beaucoup de films. The Tournées French film festival is in town. I saw all of the movies in one weekend. If you have to choose two my recommendation would be to see
"Blame it on Fidel" and "The Last Mistress". If you have to choose only one, of the two, I'd
say it depends on your sensibilities. "Fidel" is about a daughter's view as her family begins to support
communist and feminist ideals....it was slightly comical. "Mistress" is your typical "french" movie...passion,
sex, infidelity, a leading man with annoyingly large lips and some amazing costumes. "Darrat" from Chad was also
quite good, but a little "brooding" for my tastes. "Her Name is Sabine" is good for a documentary
about autism and a special needs group home (my personal familial circumstances with the autistic spectrum made if of special
interest to me). "Dans Paris" was very last on my list, as a toss back to the New Wave style of movies.
Oops, interruptions made time slip by...I'll post about stem cells soon,
I promise. BUT, in the meantime, National Geographic has put out a new comprehensive science book called the science book I like this kind of book that has info about just
about every field of science. I also have on my desk a book called What is Life? Investigating the Nature of Life in the Age of Synthetic Biology by Ed Regis. I haven't read it, but it looks short and sweet...I'll let you know more later.
Until next time....Kindly,
Joanne
